Timbers and Margaritas- Aug 26, 2012

The Timbers are not only fun to watch, but they're a great excuse to get together and make some margaritas.  Khahn and Brit had us over before and after the game and Tanya and Emily wowed us with their amazing yoga skills.  That is until I wowed everyone with my amazing clumsiness when I got a scalp lac after falling on my sunglass-covered head trying to do the "crow."  Oopsy, but still good times.

Norah Jones- Aug 17, 2012

Luly, Billy, and Jess practicing their whistling skills.
Edgefield is one of my favorite concert venues ever, so half of the fun is going for beer and pizzas before hand and hanging out at the many and varying bars afterwards.  Norah Jones was another bonus and her voice is amazing.  One of those rare people whose voice is as beautiful in person as in the studio.  And, this time I discovered the root beer floats...perfect.

The Gorge!- Aug 15, 2012

After an awesome southern-style brunch (apparently the theme of my hosting-style is food), we dropped of Sheils at the airport and Elda and I headed to the gorge.  Of course, we stopped by the quintessential Multnomah Falls, but then we hiked up top the short, but steep Larch Mountain trail for the gorge-ous view.  We rounded out the day with some outlet shopping and sushi at Bamboo with Sara.  Delish.

The Coast- Aug 14, 2012

Hot chocolates to warm us up from the Oregon coast night chill.

My goal for Sheila and Elda's trip out west was to give them a taste of a little of everything, so we went from wine to water with our day at the coast.  We started on the Neahkahnie trail which has a fantastic view of the coast, though intermittently obscured by fog.  My favorite part of the trip was Sheila's pure joy at seeing Haystacks, the stars of her favorite movie, "The Goonies."  Great day, ended with a delicious treat of hot chocolate, mac n' cheese, and nachos to warm us up.

Oregon Wine Tasting- Aug 13, 2012

Oregon Pinots are world-renowned and wine country is right in our back yard here in Portland, so Sheila, Elda and I headed to Dundee for some delicious sips and food.  None of us are connoisseurs, so it was all in good fun.  After hitting up a few places, we headed home for quality hammock time and one of my favorite, Pdx spots...Por Que No?

Gluttony Day- Aug 12, 2012

Despite waking up late after our night of dancing at Crystal and Ben's wedding and just laying in bed, slumber party fashion for an hour or so, we still managed to devour a good chunk of Portlandia staples before taking Lisa to the airport.  We started at Sympatica for brunch, then headed to Saturday Market and Voodoo donuts, and topping off dessert time with Salt and Straw.  We then took a break before heading back out to the food carts on Mississippi and finished at Prost with some beer and brats.  Wow can we eat!

Ben and Crystal's Wedding- Aug 11, 2012

Crystal and Ben's wedding was a long awaited affair...half wedding, half mini-reunion and it was more than anticipated.  One of the most fun weddings I've been to in a while, we danced like crazy people, caught up, and overall just had a blast.  Crystal looked gorgeous and they were so lovely together.

Crystal and Ben's Rehearsal Picnic- Aug 10, 2012

Ben and Crystals' rehearsal picnic was maybe one of the best I've been to.  Perfect food selection of barbecue (yum, meat), summery beers, and my favorite, our very own Salt and Straw cart.  Delectable.  The whole environment with the yard games in the park, the mini-reunions, and the summer night were fantastic.

Floating Part 2- Aug 5, 2012

We had such a good time on our floating trip last year that one of our first agenda items for this summer was to plan another trip.  This time we went on the lower Clackamas which was packed on the sunny 90 degree day.  The current was definitely much slower than last year prompting some flip flop paddling at times, but it was still a glorious drift down the river.  We hit a couple little "rapids," one of which dumped Luly, but in general it was beer and snack time.  Midway through, a few of us took turns jumping from a swing rope.  My technique was unfortunately belly-flop.
