Glendi Greek Festival- July 29, 2011

Glendi is the greek word for Party so Kristi, Leslie, and I headed to the Glendi festival in Beaverton and partook in the delicious greek and, oddly, Ethiopian food.  It's the first time I remember having Indira and it was pretty good.  The best was the Greek desserts of course.  The Bougatsa was the best.

Adrienne's 30th- July 22, 2011

Lisa's bf in Portland, Adrienne had a big bash on her Pearl-district rooftop for her 30th which was a ton of fun.  It was a "jorts" theme party (cut off jean shorts) and I wish I would've gotten some pics of the short shorts some of the guys were sporting.  Oh well, it also transformed into a temporary tattoo party and we topped it off with Kansas-style flippy cup.

JT in town- July 21, 2011

It's always good to see old friends so I was excited when JT said he would be in town on his whirlwind roadtrip through the west coast.  We had some delicious pizza at Apizza Scholla and I happily shared the Graeters that is now being sold at my grocery store in Cincinnati.  Woot!

30 Years Past, Good Times Ahead- July 12, 2011

The anticipation for my 30th was the most I've had since I was a kid.  Something about 30 and mixed emotions.  That and not being able to spend it with all my residency friends, but alas it was a great dinner.  I was post-call, so high-on-life and we closed the restaurant down.  The food was absolutely delicious at Meriwether's, we ate family style (my favorite), and we got some free sparkling wine too.  Lucky to have good friends in my new town.

Biking and Wine Tasting- July 10, 2011

Well, of course biking and wine-ing come hand in hand.  Ashley had the brilliant idea to combine a little rare exercise with some wine tasting and chocolate mixed in.  We rode the ~7 miles from Newberg to Carlton trying not to get run over while soaking in the beautiful, sunny Oregon summer day.

Welcome BBQ- July 9, 2011

The Peds Cards Fellows- me, Amy, Monique, and Emilio
Our welcome BBQ at Laurie's house was a great time.  Most of the Peds Cards department showed up for good food and good conversation and I was reminded of how generous and warm all of the people are here.  I'm so happy I chose this program and I'm definitely excited for the next 3 years.  Laurie took us stragglers out on her boat and we got to soak in the breeze and sun on Lake Oswego.

July 4th in Portland- July 4, 2011

Being so far north, it gets dark late, so it was actually a struggle to stay awake for the fireworks.  Ashley, Lisa, and I started with a late dinner at a restaurant down the street from the house and enjoyed a smorgasbord of happy hour foods before Lisa and I headed out to the Willamette River to illegally park and watch the fireworks show.  It was so festive being out with the rest of the city.
