Bite of Oregon- Aug 14, 2011

The Bite of Oregon has been a Portland staple for something like 27 years and it was a perfect antidote for our famished bellies after our long bike ride.  We had some delicious crab cakes, ribs, rasberry beer, and cannolis.  More than just a "bite" that's for sure.  Our last random moment was when some guy threw a bag of carrots over the fence to me.  A little for home too.

My backyard- Aug 27, 2011

I had an awesome day today.  I slept in and then enjoyed the beautiful shade of our plum trees in the backyard reading "The Help" in my hammock.  The only productive thing I did was grill up some burgers and grilled peaches on the Q and relax.  Ahh...I love having a backyard to enjoy Oregon summer.

The Decembrists and Historic Edgefield- Aug 26, 2011

The Decembrists are Portland's own hometown band so it was a ton of fun to see them rock McMenamin's Historic Edgefield outdoor concert venue for their last stop on their King is Dead tour.  They are great performers and it was an entertaining evening enjoying a beautiful Oregon summer night, a delicious Ruby beer (a Portland rasberry beer), with some good company.

Kristi's B-day and Genoa- Aug 20, 2011

Kristi is one of my oldest friends, tolerating me from when we were in 6th grade.  That being said, each time she celebrates a birthday I'm astonished by how long we've been celebrating it.  From our days of her dad's ribs and her sister's homemade cakes at her pool parties to Genoa, a delicious foody restaurant in my SE Portland neighborhood, seems like the birthdays have always revolved around food.  Ha!  Anyway, I was glad to have the opportunity to celebrate it with her and her family.

Portland Bridge Pedal- Aug 14, 2011

The Portland Bridge Pedal is this awesome day where thousands of crazy Portland bikers spend the morning riding back and forth across the Willamette on Portland's bridges.  There are 10 bridges on the 35-mile ride-- somehow we got lost and missed the last 2-- and it's a cool experience to explore the city and get to ride your bike on the highways and bridges.  It was a gorgeous day and Ashley and I convinced Erin to sport her new Kansas shirt to fit in.  Erin said she said "Rock Chalk" more today than the rest of her life.  It was fantastic.

Grillin' Out- Aug 13, 2011

One of my favorite parts about our house here in Portland is our backyard.  I've got my hammock from Brazil stretched out between a couple nice, shady plum trees, a great deck, and best of all, a grill.  So of course, I plan to use it as much as possible and invited over some new and old friends to hang out in my new found post-medicine boards freedom.  We had some good food and good conversation amongst our random collection of people.

Floating the Klackamas- Aug 13, 2011

It was glorious getting out of the house after being cooped up the last couple weekends studying for boards.  Even though it wasn't the warmest of days, Jessyka, Luly, Esther, Ian, and I decided to brave the cold water and go floating down the Klackamas.  It was a ton of fun, drinking cheap beer, watching Esther fall off her float in even the most placid of waters, and just enjoying being outdoors.  I love floating.
